The team at “Bishop Monkton Today” hope you like the new look home page of our village website. Pictures have been updated and the new logo incorporated. Daily headlines will lessen and will, on occasion, include notifications of special events, not just in the village, but also in Burton Leonard and Ripon. There is a lot going on in our village, but it is amazing what else is happening not that far away.

You may already have noticed activities in Ripon appearing in the events column and the team hope that some of them were/will be of interest to villagers. Perhaps some of you even attended or intend to do so. The team are always pleased to hear of any events that could be included- but you do have to let us know.

You may also have seen that the number of daily articles has been diminishing, due in part to the summer holiday season. Going forward however, there will not be as many articles as previously-it is proving too hard to sustain, but when something interesting, relevant or newsworthy happens, then it will be reported and in a timely manner. The website will always keep you informed. The team are always interested to hear of anything that you or your organisation has been doing, but remember, if you don't let us know, we can't write about it.

The website has moved towards a more community based information site, rather than a daily newspaper/magazine. The number of pages for each organisation, club or society has been reduced, getting rid of the unwieldy list that appeared down the left hand side of the screen when viewed on an ipad or iphone. We hope viewers may find this more user-friendly. The content that was there previously has remained, just condensed into a smaller space. What you will now find is direct links to webpages where more detailed information and contact details can be found.

The archive page now contains links to most articles previously published, so that once a story has dropped off the stack on the news column, it can still be accessed. Where appropriate, a link for the story will be added to the individual pages of clubs and organisations.

Glenda Hunter, Editor, says “Thank you for bearing with us while we made the changes, which I hope will make the site easier to navigate, with less duplication, and which will hopefully become the first point of reference for anything going on in the village. But it can only be as good as the information received, so the team are reliant on villagers keeping us up to date. I am sure we all want a village website which meets the needs of its readers".

The website also welcomes comments about anything going on in the village which will be published under the heading Letters to the Editor. Photographs are also always welcome, especially of village events.

Please remember without support and taking the time to let us know the website cannot flourish.
