For one day and one day only, giant puppets that glow in the dark will spectacularly appear at Bishop Monkton Village Hall.

On Sunday, October 5th, at 11.30 a.m. for 90 minutes of magical and fantastical special effects, the famous Scottish puppetry company, International Purves Puppets, will present a spell-binding production of "Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp".

Aladdin is the son of a poor family living in Baghdad. One day, he meets his long lost uncle, Abanazar, and so begins an adventure full of magic, amazing scenes and wonderful surprises. Meet three funny mice called Bibbity, Bobbity and Boo who help Aladdin on his journey to rescue Princess Yasmin.

A treat for children and adults alike. Adult tickets are £15, a child ticket costs £10.

N.B. Puppeteers will be on stage manipulating the puppets.

The show is part of the Ripon International Festival which opens with a summer concert on Thursday August 7th at St. John's Church in Sharrow and is brought to a close on Thursday October 9th, again at St. John's Church, with the London Revue Company performing "Come Rain, Come Shine", a funny celebration of the British countryside.

Since 1998 the Festival has brought the best of international musical and theatrical art to North Yorkshire. On the programme for 2025 there are 13 performances in total, staged at various venues in the area. Click here to visit the Festival's website for more information or to book tickets
