After weeks of uncertainty, it has now been confirmed that the village website 'Bishop Monkton Today' is to continue.

Two months ago, current Editor, Colin Philpott, announced that he would need to stand down because of pressure of other commitments. Colin told the Annual Parish Meeting on Wednesday night that Glenda Hunter had agreed to take on the role from June 1st. Glenda, like Colin, is an ex-journalist and has been part of the website team during the past year. A team of seven people, some already on the team and other new members, has now been assembled to take on running the site.

Colin said:- "I am delighted that we have been able to find some new volunteers to help with the website and that Glenda has agreed to be Editor. She has been a fantastic help to me during the past year and I am very confident that the website can continue to go from strength to strength under her leadership. During the past year we have been able to build on the legacy of former Editor, Richard Field to provide a website that feels like a local newspaper for the village. We have redesigned the site, simplified the structure and invested some time in providing more in depth features and original stories."

Since the relaunch of the site last October, there have been 105,045 page hits on the site with an average of 124 different people visiting each day and an average of 471 hits per day.

In the next couple of weeks Glenda will introduce herself and the new team.
