Changes Afoot To The Website
BISHOP MONKTON TODAY
Eagle-eyed and regular readers of this website may have noticed subtle changes appearing on the website in the almost two months since a new team took over the reins.
The colour scheme has been slightly changed, as has the look of the article headings-the team hope you like these. A news archive page has been created so that articles, however old they are, are always available to read again at the click of button. Click here to access that page.
The headings down the left hand side of the screen when viewed from an iPhone or iPad have been reduced. These were difficult to negotiate, looked unsightly and were not conducive to easy reading. Unfortunately, the website host was unable to offer any alternative so the only choice the team had was to condense and streamline the content. This task is now almost complete. The information is still there, but often in an abbreviated format and frequently with a link to a previous article or another website.
Readers may also remember that the new team asked for ideas for a new logo and we are delighted to now launch that logo. Have a look at the picture at the bottom of the home page. We hope you agree with our selection, which is, we think, a lovely image and charmingly captures the essence of where we live. It was designed by a villager-thank you very much.
This logo will, in the next couple of weeks, take a prominent position on the home page as we gently revamp and relaunch the introduction page to this site. Watch out for this happening.
The events column will be expanded and will include details of events that are happening, not just in the village, as has been the case up to now, but in the wider area, including Ripon, Burton Leonard and Littlethorpe. This will take time, so please bear with us, but there are some “extra” events appearing there now.
We shall also include "other" events in the Village Hall, bookings made by outside organisations who utilise our Hall's excellent facilities and to which villagers might like to go along. Such an event that has already appeared in the column is Summer FunFest at the Village Hall on Tuesday August 12th, a free fun day of activity for 6-18 year olds. To read the advert click here or more information about the day itself click here.
The picture on the home page will now not just focus on views or events in the village, but will also cover the wider area of our part of North Yorkshire. The team are always delighted to receive any of your pictures for inclusion on the site.
This is all part of moving towards a more community based website, where information can be found about all that this wonderful village has to offer, with links provided to sites where more details can be accessed. News stories will decrease, a daily headline with supporting story just cannot be sustained, but there will still be articles about what is happening in the village, big or small, or on stories which may affect the village. Just not as regularly as now.
The website team values your support and encouragement, hope you keep on "logging on" and that you will soon grow to love the new Bishop Monkton Today.
And of course, as always, we value your comments. Contact the team by clicking here and please don't hesitate to get in touch if there is something you would like to see appearing on the website. We cannot know everything that is going on unless you tell us.
