Badapple Theatre returned once again to the Bishop Monkton Village Hall with a ‘LAUGH OUT LOUD’ one-person show.

‘Crumbs’ follows the life and times of the heroine, Petronella Parfait, an ex-TV baking show host who has recently been “let-go” from a high profile TV show under dubious circumstances!! Now trying to re-style herself within the fast-paced and cut-throat world of influencers and social media millionaires, we followed her hilarious slips and trips in her live baking show as she tries to keep the lights- and the oven- on in the face of almost certain doom ……

There was no secret in the end about Petronella’s Bread Recipe as we enjoyed a nibble or two!!

For you to try … Bread Recipe

500g grams of flour (300g wholemeal/ 200g white)

Tsp of yeast

Tsp of salt

Tsp of sugar

230ml of warm water

Olive oil for glazing

Secret ingredient!! one tbs of caraway!

Combine yeast and warm water (and sugar for a faster reaction) and set aside for it to activate.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour salt and caraway and make a well in the centre. Add the activated mixture and mix with your hands in a circular motion until you have a ball of dough.

Turn out onto a floured surface, and kneed fifty times. Place back in the bowl and cover with clingfilm. Put in a warm place until doubled in size.

Quickly kneed, divide and shape into 4 loaves.

Glaze with olive oil, and brush olive oil and dust flour onto the baking tin/tray. Bake each loaf for 25 minutes at 220 degrees. Leave to rest for 15 minutes and enjoy!

Love your faithful ‘CRUMBIES’!!

Joking aside, unfortunately, Badapple Theatre company have taken a 100% cut to their funding over the past year and it’s important we keep ‘supporting local theatre’. Check them out on www.badappletheatre.co.uk and see if you can support.
