The second screening of 'Best Years of Our Lives' - the film about Bishop Monkton School's history - takes place this afternoon (Friday). The film will be shown in the School Hall at 3.45 pm - anyone is welcome. Entry is free - just turn up.

The film was well received when it was shown for the first time on Wednesday night at the Village Hall with the Chair of the Friends of Bishop Monkton School, Vic Hardy, saying that it made her feel very emotional.

It is presented by children from the School and includes interviews with current and former pupils and staff as well as historians who explain the wider historical contact of what has happened in Bishop Monkton. School food, Victorian classroom discipline and stories of families with multi-generational involvement in the School are featured in the film. The Mechanics' Institution, once a centre for adult education, is also featured.

The book of the same title will be available to buy at the screening. It costs £10 either cash or contactless with proceeds, once production costs have been covered, going to the Friends of Bishop Monkton School.
