CCTV is to be installed within the next few weeks at the Village Hall. There will be eight cameras in total, mostly situated around the outside of the building, in a scheme recently approved by NYC Commuted Sums, who will fully fund the project.

The Village Hall Committee is in the process of drafting a fully compliant CCTV policy, clearly stating that the purpose of the cameras is to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.

Phil Goodier, chair of the committee, said “Security of the hall has always been a concern, and the CCTV will be a big improvement. It will only be used to deter crime and antisocial behaviour and we will comply fully with relevant legislation including GDPR. Many thanks to John Archbold for designing the system and to NYC for providing the funding”.

Installation of CCTV was one of the suggestions made by residents on the Village Hall survey earlier this year.

Commuted sums are a one-off, capital payment, often made by the developer of a new project, to a local authority, that help ensure the continuation and enhancement of local community facilities.
