GENEROUS VILLAGERS SUPPORT CHRISTIAN AID
BISHOP MONKTON TODAY
Money collected from the envelopes posted through letterboxes during May's annual Christian Aid week raised a total of £422, only a few pounds less than last year.
This year's appeal was organised, as usual, by both churches in the village and was launched by a joint Anglican/Methodist service at St. John's on May 11th, attended by 38 people.
Donations help fund vital training for farmers to equip them to fight the effects of the climate crisis, with this year's fundraising week focusing on the struggles of Guatemalan communities.
Thanking everyone who gave a contribution, Vicar, Robb Wainwright, said, " As usual the people of Bishop Monkton have been generous in their donations to the work of Christian Aid. Unfortunately more and more people throughout the world are in need of this help and we, the churches of the village, are grateful for the response from our community".
