Emerging through the dusk on Saturday December 6th, a sparking and glittering cavalcade of tractors, both vintage and modern, will illuminate Hungate and Boroughbridge Road as a tinselled parade once more passes through the village.

This is the third Christmas Tractor Run that has been organised by the Ripon Tinsel Tractor Group, supported by Tates Garden Centre in Ripon, to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. Last year's event, unfortunately accompanied by the unwelcome presence of Storm Darragh, raised £2,653. The village received a special mention after the event, when the organisers, in their thanks, particularly acknowledged ”the fantastic support from Bishop Monkton”. What a delight to welcome them to the village again.

The tractors will be setting off from Tates at 3 p.m. and will arrive in the village, down Moor Road, at approximately 3.30 p.m. Their journey then takes them through Roecliffe, Boroughbridge, Langthorpe and Skelton before heading to Ripon Market Place at 6.30 p.m. where, after a double sweep of the Square, the tractors will park up.

Grab a strand or two of tinsel of your own, wrap up warm and come out to cheer them on their way.
