The main A61 road from the village into Ripon will be affected by night closures for most of the month of August. From approximately the turn off to Markenfield Hall, when travelling into Ripon, through to the Ripon bypass roundabout, the road will be closed on weekdays (Monday to Friday inclusive) from Monday August 4th to Friday August 29th from 7.00 p.m. to 6 .00 a.m.

The reason for this closure is given as carriageway surfacing works, specifically Daffodil Bends.

A diversion will be in place. The initial indicative route, via the A1, is lengthy, covering a distance of 62.55 km (39 miles) giving an extra added journey time of one hour.

It may well be that there will be substantially more traffic on local roads as drivers try to find a shorter and quicker route. Please take care.

How this closure will affect the evening timetable of the No 36 bus from Harrogate to Ripon is presently unclear. The Harrogate Bus Company told this website on Wednesday July 30th that there was no information currently to hand, but when it was available it would be posted on its website. Service changes are updated seven days a week. Click here to access those updates.
