The summer concert performed by the Singing for Fun Group is always a popular date on the village's social calendar. This year was no exception, with tickets having been sold out weeks in advance. Perhaps the Group should consider taking the concert on tour as it always receives rave reviews.

Villager, Kathryn Bethel, who was in the audience sent this report, which is a pleasure to post.

Kathryn writes

“On Thursday evening, in the newly-refurbished chapel there were over 40 in the audience and we counted 24 in the enthusiastic choir.

Under the leadership of Angie Archbold and the amazing pianist Catherine accompanying the singers, the ‘Singing for Fun’ group lived up to its name.

Well-rehearsed songs were interspersed with poems and jokes - and audience participation was much enjoyed.

The evening raised money for the redevelopment of the Birk Crag Centre - a meeting, training and residential centre for local and national Girl Guides. As Angie said: ‘It’s so important to support our younger generation.’

And it was so much fun to do so”!

Editor's Note

The evening raised £400 for the Centre and its work with the Girl Guides.

A short while ago, the website published a short piece all about the Group. Click here to read that article-"Sing for Joy It's Fun".
