Glenda Hunter has provided the following update in respect of the retirements of David and Christine, our milk man and lady and Trevor, our postman!

Thursday October 8th 6 pm

Everyone is invited to come to the Masons Arms on Thursday October 8th at 6 pm to raise a glass and say thank you as the village says goodbye to these three lynch pins of our community. I hope many of you are able to come along. Thank you to Gary & Lesley for their help in facilitating this get-together.

At the same time, we will hand over the farewell gifts, a collection for which is currently in place at the Masons. Don't forget to sign the cards circulating round the village.

Please spread the word among those villagers who do not use or have access to the internet-but please do it quietly as I am hoping that the recipients do not know anything about this-Christine & David's sons and Donna, our post lady, have kindly agreed to get “in on the act” of collecting them for an evening out without mentioning they are going to Bishop Monkton.

I do have some ideas of presents but cannot do anything until I know how much has been collected. I will take the collection boxes back next Thursday October 1st, so if you are wanting to pop something in the boxes please try and add your contribution by then.

And if you feel like decorating your house on the last day of the village's final milk delivery, Saturday October 3rd, please do so and let's get out all the bells and whistles and make that day a big-send-off for them.
